InnovaConcrete at the European Researchers’ Night

28 September 2018

Are you going to participate to the European Researchers’ Night this evening? Are you curious to discover more about our project?

If you are in Cádiz (Spain) or in Athens (Greece) this evening you can do it!

We are organizing two events at the University of Cádiz and at the National Technical University of Athens to promote InnovaConcrete research activities.

Tonight at the University of Cádiz

The participation consists on a workshop with simple experiments that help to understand the innovative materials and techniques for the conservation of 20th century Cultural Heritage, especially in concrete, that we are developing in the University of Cádiz.

Different activities will be carried out during the course of this workshop:

  1. A) Experiments:
  2. Consolidation: How to turn sand into a compact material?
  3. Hydrophobicity: How to prevent water absorption inside concrete?
  4. Self-cleaning: How to clean concrete just by using sunlight?
  5. Repellence: Why do water droplets bounce on a concrete treated by UCA products?
  6. B) Awareness activities:
  7. Case studies: Which monuments are part of InnovaConcrete and why?
  8. Social studies: How to add value to concrete Heritage?

Contributions of this investigation

Knowledge about the application of nano-science and advanced materials for the conservation of Cultural Heritage.

Awareness raising about the importance of 20th century Cultural Heritage, focusing on the importance of concrete works.

Tonight at the National Technical University of Athens

The Researcher’s Night at National Technical University of Athens, this year, has a dedicated session on Cultural Heritage.

NTUA will have a booth, where demonstration activities will take place: videos of InnovaConcrete will be projected as well as initial simulations of NTUA team’s work.

They will also present the InnovaConcrete’s official poster and the NTUA team will be at your disposal to talk about the project’s research activities.
