XIV Technical Conference: Nanomaterials Applied To The Conservation And Restoration Of Cultural Goods

May 2018 | Aragón (Spain)

In May, the XIV Technical Conference: Nanomaterials Applied to the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Goods was held in Huesca (Aragón, Spain) where leading experts offered an overview of the different applications of nanomaterials in the field of heritage conservation. The conference took place in the creative building of the Superior School of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage of Aragon, which represents a beautiful combination of concrete and brick.

Maria J. Mosquera, Coordinator of InnovaConcrete, was invited to give a conference on ‘Innovative nanomaterials for cultural heritage conservation: consolidants, hydrophobic, self-cleaning and biocides’ where she presented the project and the research on materials that is being conducted on it.

In this conference day, also participated by experts in the field such as: Jesús Santamaría, Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Zaragoza and Deputy Director of the Aragon Nanoscience Institute; Ana Laborde, Restoration Coordinator of the Cathedral of Santiago Program. Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute (IPCE); Livio Ferrazza, Chemist, collaborator of the IPCE Materials Laboratory; Elena González, Chemist in the IPCE Research and Training Area and Emma Sánchez, Restorer of graphic work of the IPCE Books, Documents and Graphic Works Service.
